About Fluoroelastomers
What Are Fluoroelastomers?
Fluoroelastomers are fluorine-containing high performance synthetic rubbers which have exceptional resistance
to a broad spectrum of oils, gasses, fluids and chemicals at elevated temperatures and severe environments.
Advantages of using Pelseal Technologies' fluoroelastomer coatings, adhesives, sealants, and/or caulks.
- Outstanding resistance to high heat. Typical operating temperatures from -40 to +400 degree F with excursions to +500 degree F.
- Excellent resistance to a broad range of chemicals, i.e. oil, gasoline, hydraulic fluids, bases, hydrocarbon solvents and acids, to name a few.
- Resistance to ozone, sunlight, and UV (ultraviolet) radiation.
- Resistance to salt spray and fungal growth.
- Ambient temperature and heat curing products available.
- Bonds to most substrates, i.e. stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, concrete, glass, ceramics, Viton®, Fluorel®, and other elastomers.
Limitations of Pelseal's fluoroelastomer coatings, adhesives, sealants, and/or caulks.
- Low molecular weight ketones and esters (i.e. Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Acetone, Ethyl Acetate) are not
compatible with fluoroelastomer products. They will permeate and swell cured fluoroelastomer coatings and
sealants.
- Amines may degrade fluoroelastomer products.
- It is difficult to adhere fluoroelastomers to some materials, such as: silicone, polyethylene, and PTFE. Special surface preparation may be required to achieve a satisfactory bond.
Elastomeric compounds containing plasticizers and/or waxy components may also cause bonding problems.

Product Qualities
Pelseal Technologies' coatings come in different colors.
Pelseal's products are available in a wide variety of colors including black, blue and white. Other colors are available upon request.
Please ask your Pelseal Technologies' representative for information on custom formulation and color matching.
Pelseal offers a fluoroelastomer aerosol.
PLV2040 is a liquid fluoroelastomer coating available in a 12 oz. aerosol spray can.
Shelf life of Pelseal's products.
Pelseal's products' shelf life is twelve months from the date of manufacture, provided the container remains unopened and stored below 75 degrees F.
The accelerator should be kept out of direct sunlight.
Pot life of Pelseal's two-part coatings/adhesives and sealants/caulks.
Our coatings/adhesives have a useful pot life of approximately 8 hours at 75 degrees F.
Keeping the mixed material covered between applications will minimize evaporation of the solvent and prolong
the pot life.
Our sealants/caulks have a useful pot life of approximately 4 hours at 75 degrees F.
Keeping the mixed material covered between applications will minimize evaporation of the solvent and prolong
the pot life.

Applications & Requirements
Type of application technique that can be used in applying Pelseal's Products.
The sealants/caulks can be troweled on or applied with a caulk gun.
The coatings/adhesives can be applied by brush, roller, dipping or airless spraying.
Surface preparation is required before applying Pelseal's Products.
Surfaces must be clean and dry for maximum adhesion. Gritblasting and/or degreasing the metal
surface with oil-free solvents is recommended.
Heat requirement to cure Pelseal's products.
Heat is not required for most applications. However, heat will accelerate the curing process.
Free samples of Pelseal Technologies' products.
Half pint samples of our products are available upon request.
Material Safety data Sheets and application instructions are included with the product.
All samples and orders are shipped with the appropriate MSDS and application data sheets.
